Donations welcome For information, contact Jill Becker at 937-767-2646 or jillbecker1@gmail.com In Dance for PD® classes, participants explore movement and music in ways that are enjoyable, stimulating and creative. Originally begun as a collaboration between the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group, a chapter of the National Parkinson Foundation, the Dance for PD® program is built on one fundamental premise: professionally- trained dancers are movement experts whose knowledge is useful to persons with PD. This popular class, which has been offered at the Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn since 2001, is appropriate for anyone with PD, no matter how advanced. No dance experience or partner is required, although care partners are welcome. In chairs, at a barre or moving across the floor, you will explore elements of modern dance, ballet, tap, folk and social dancing in a non-pressured, social environment in which music energizes, enriches and empowers. Classes modeled after Dance for PD® now occur in more than 40 communities in the US, Canada, Italy, India, Israel, UK and Germany. (For more information about the origins of Dance for PD®, please visit :www.danceforparkinsons.org.) The Cicninnati Dancing with Parkinson's class will be taught by local dance professionals Mary Kamp, Kate Stark and Nancy Fountain. The Yellow Springs class will be taught by Jill Becker and Melissa Heston. All instructors have been trained in the Dance for PD® method. Classes are funded by the Tri-State Chapter and are free of charge, although donations to the Chapter are welcome.
